Spring Break

During Spring Break, I went to my grandparent's house. I saw my Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, older cousin Timothy, and younger cousin Allison. My Mom and I left on Wednesday, and we got back on Sunday. We did lots of game playing, movie watching, and other fun. On Thursday, the first Eastery activity we did was egg dyeing.

In the next picture, I am with Allison.

Then on Friday, we fought with water balloons.

Like I said, we played lots of games.

On Easter my Dad arrived, and we went to church, present hunted, present opened...

...egg hunted...

...and egg opened. (I got $10.25 from coins in my eggs!)

Finally, it was time to go.

I had a great Spring Break. I enjoyed seeing family, especially since my grandparents will be moving up to Idaho with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins.

Minecraft Helped Save a Forest?

Hello everyone! I was about to start playing Minecraft when in the news reel I found this:

When I read the article, I discovered that the Białowieża Forest, located in Poland and Belarus, was being cut down for logs. I discovered it is a beautiful forest. So, when Oglivy, a Polish advertising company, and Greenpeace Poland came up with a project called The Last Tree Standing, they made a map of the forest including every tree, stream, and flower. Then they got a Danish company called GeoBoxers to make a Minecraft map using the other map to make a life-sized Białowieża Forest. They advertized it and made a video. This is where I found out about it, and you can visit them at http://tothelasttree.com. I was really interested in this, and I hope you will be too.

2 Old Computer Games to 2 New Card Games (Part 1)

For Christmas, my family got two card games that used to be video games. I will show the other game in a different blog post.

1. Oregon Trail

Oregon trail is a cooperative game where you have to get you entire party to the end before everyone dies, or as the cards say, DIES. You play trail cards, and the ends have to match up.

You put the start and finish about 10 cards away, but it takes 50 cards to get there because the cards stack every 5.

I just drew this calamity card from playing a trail card saying to draw one. It says:

You have DIED of snake bite.

So, my parents kept playing until the oxen died at about 30 cards out of 50.

I play this game a lot because I really want to beat it! The best I have ever gotten, and I have played a lot, is 49 out of 50 cards.

Katamino

I have a very fun game called Katamino. It is a game where you have to get Pentaminos (pieces) into the board in Pentas (groups).

It has a 1 player mode where you get the pieces in the board: (No! I almost made it!)

A 2 player strategy mode where the last person to put the piece in wins:

And a 2 player game where you have to fill in your side before the other player: (Left won.)

 I love this game because it is easy to learn, and fast and simple to play. It can also be a one or two player game.

My Favorite Game: Stratego

One of my favorite games is Stratego. I like that it has lots of strategy and is very fun and exciting. Today, I played with my mom.

First, we had to set up the game.

Now, we are ready to begin. The goal of the game is to capture the other player's flag. You do that by moving your pieces to kill the other team's pieces. The pieces are labeled 2-10 with 10 being most powerful. There are also bombs, spies and flags.

After a while, our pieces started decreasing.

Unfortunately, my mom won!

Today's game was very fun! You should try Stratego if you haven't before. It is also a great game for ages 8ish and up that only needs 2 players!
