Ski Trip

Last weekend, I went on a ski trip with my Boy Scout troop. They always start the year off easy, like as in sleeping in a hotel, and then go hard, like sleeping in a tent you put up yourself. So, since this was the first trip of the year, we stayed in a lodge called Granlibakken. It had a heated pool, and we did the Boy Scout Angel Challenge where you jump into the snow in just your swim suit, and then run back to the hot tub. We got our skis, boots, and helmets, and then went to another ski resort called Homewood. We had fun skiing, and I taught another scout who never skied before how to ski.

Here I am at the top of the mountain.

Here I am on the chair lift.

Now, In this picture, we conquered the single black diamond I will tell you about later, and are about to go down a much easier blue square.

I had a really fun time skiing. One time, a couple of scouts and I accidentally came across a double black diamond, and we took our skis off and walked down. Then, we got to a single black diamond on purpose, and I fell twice. However, even though it was only my 3rd time skiing, I made it down safely!

Creativation

My mom is in Phoenix, Arizona as a VIP for a craft conference called Creativation.

She taught a class, and I heard it went very well. It is about kids' crafts. Now she is probably looking at all of the brands stuff that are there. I am very interested in Artistry By Nature (a sculpting kit from sandstone), and also just a big box of art supplies (Colored Pencils, Crayons, or Markers).

Here are pictures of the Coyote, Buffalo, and Ram kits they make.

She will be back on Monday with a big box of stuff!

Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction

Last year, in 5th grade, my class took a field trip to the Exploratorium. There, I got one of my Mini Weapon books. Then, this year, I ordered a second one from amazon. I have made a couple things.

Here is what they look like:

The things I am showing come from the book on the right.

This one is a straw blowgun.

And this one is a ninja balloon target.

I had lots of fun making and using my Mini Weapons. It took me about 25 shots to finally hit the balloon, but it was fun. I also lost one of my three ammo while trying to hit it.

2 Old Computer Games to 2 New Card Games (Part 1)

For Christmas, my family got two card games that used to be video games. I will show the other game in a different blog post.

  1. Oregon Trail

Oregon trail is a cooperative game where you have to get you entire party to the end before everyone dies, or as the cards say, DIES. You play trail cards, and the ends have to match up.

You put the start and finish about 10 cards away, but it takes 50 cards to get there because the cards stack every 5.

I just drew this calamity card from playing a trail card saying to draw one. It says:

You have DIED of snake bite.

So, my parents kept playing until the oxen died at about 30 cards out of 50.

I play this game a lot because I really want to beat it! The best I have ever gotten, and I have played a lot, is 49 out of 50 cards.
